Airfield lighting

Clear guidance on the runway apron

For a safe landing

FUCHS Europoles offers approach lighting poles in various designs. Depending on local conditions and requirements, heights of up to 50 metres can be achieved.
The masts fulfil the guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Frangibility – tested and safe

We are one of the few manufacturers in the world to manufacture in accordance with the specifications of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). All our GRP masts for airports fulfil the frangibility requirements of ICAO Annex 14 of the Aerodrome Design Manual, Part 6: Frangibility. In the event of a collision, the masts buckle easily and without sparks. Confirmed by numerous full-scale impact tests and calculations as well as simulations by the National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR).

Versions:

  • One-piece up to 14 m total height in GRP
  • Two-piece up to 20 m total height in GRP
  • Hybrid construction up to 50 m total height; lower section made of folded solid steel wall and upper section 12 m made of GRP (optionally with maintenance platform)

Quick maintenance – very simple

To enable quick maintenance of the approach lighting masts, FUCHS Europoles offers all approach lighting masts with tiltable base plates in addition to fixed base plates. Depending on the height of the mast and the weight of the attachments, the masts can be tilted by hand or by means of a special lifting device, the so-called screw jack.

Advantages of tilting base plates at a glance:

  • Low maintenance and installation costs
  • Quick and convenient installation including cable routing
  • Can be operated by just one person
  • No crane or cherry picker required
  • No disruption to air traffic
